The Utah Department of Corrections is looking to hire a licensed Psychologist to provide psychological services to the inmates who are in the Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will provide psychological services in the areas of diagnostic testing and assessment, participate in the delivering of psychological services for the prison system, Board of Pardons and related community correctional facilities, and participate as a member of the clinical treatment teams providing recommendations for inmate treatment and related activities.

Principle

Duties
  • Performing diagnostic assessments on sexual offenders.
  • Performing psychological and psychosexual history interviews.
  • Conducting and scoring risk assessment instruments.
  • Writing reports summarizing inmates’ psychosocial and psychosexual histories.
  • Co-facilitating process groups.
  • Conducting individual psychotherapy with sexual offenders.
  • Writing Discharge Evaluations for sexual offenders releasing to the community.
  • Documenting treatment participation and writing Treatment Summaries, including recommendations for effective re-integration into the community.
  • Consulting with other institutional staff on clinical and correctional management issues pertaining to sexual offenders.
  • Conducting treatment groups and individual sessions in the temporary absence of a Clinical Therapist.
The Ideal candidate
  • Is certified as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider by the Sex Offender Task Force.
  • Has at least 1 year of experience providing treatment to clients.
  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.

    D) in Psychology from an accredited institution (degree will be verified).
  • Current Utah license as a Psychologist.
  • Will adhere to all appropriate standards of practice as outlined by the American Psychological Association, State Licensing Board, Utah Department of Corrects and the Board of Pardons.

If no candidate is licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Utah, this position may be filled by with a Psychological Assistant II. To qualify for the Psychological Assistant II position you must have a PhD or Psy.

D and only need to obtain your hours for your Psychologist license. For candidates without experience in sex offense assessment and treatment, training will be provided.
