. Your position within DHHS offers unique opportunities to engage with the legislative process and collaborate across diverse public health initiatives. You'll work closely with law enforcement, public health departments (including those within DHHS), and legal professionals, building essential relationships that enhance your professional network and career prospects. Our collaborative approach extends to identifying crucial data trends, from opioid overdoses to infectious disease outbreaks, directly contributing to public health prevention and interventions orchestrated within the DHHS framework to keep our communities safe and healthy.
This direct connection empowers you to not only investigate individual cases, but also contribute to systemic improvements in public health outcomes.
In this role, your duties extend beyond shared post-mortem examination duties (averaging 4-5 days a month) to encompass significant opportunities for professional growth and impact. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Mentorship and Training: Actively support and train the next generation of medical professionals, including medical students and fellowship candidates.
- Team Leadership: Provide essential employee supervision, guiding and developing our dedicated staff.
- Strategic Input: Contribute to critical Division leadership responsibilities, including policy input and development that shapes the future of forensic medicine in Utah.
- Current unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Utah or ability to obtain before beginning employment with the State of Utah.
- Board certified as a Forensic Pathologist by the American Board of Pathology.
- Board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
- Two years of experience practicing full-time Forensic Pathology.
