As the Food Services Director, you will organize, plan, direct, and supervise the dietary department in a long‑term care facility, leading quality dining programs that enhance the meal experience and meet federal, state, and local standards.
Responsibilities- Interview, hire, and orient dietary staff.
- Train workers in procedures, equipment operation, and maintenance.
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise department functions and activities.
- Supervise and evaluate the quality of work completed by department employees.
- Forecast and plan the purchase of supplies and equipment.
- Plan work and staffing schedules to ensure adequate services.
- Maintain required records: inventory, compliance, financial, and personnel.
- Conduct regular management staff meetings and communicate with other departments.
- Manage a cost‑effective program within budget.
- Ensure the department is survey‑ready and compliant with all regulations.
- Maintain excellent relations with residents, visitors, and community departments.
- Participate in facility meetings and committees.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Promote professional growth and development of the team.
- Conduct quality assurance rounds and inspections.
- Report monthly initiatives, goals, and accomplishments.
- Promote and monitor resident satisfaction.
- Ensure the food service operation is clean, safe, and sanitary.
- Associate’s degree or higher in food service management, hospitality, or related field.
- Food service supervisory experience required; at least two years in long‑term care preferred.
- Serv Safe Certification for Managers.
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) and Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) credentials.
- Skilled at motivating and supervising staff.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and quality attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet goals.
- Public speaking skills.
- Strong stress management, administrative, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work all shifts as needed.
- Proficient with Windows office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
