CNC Operator​/Programmer

Position Summary

The CNC Operator/Programmer is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines. This role requires a hands‑on machinist who is comfortable running machines, performing setups, assisting with tooling, and contributing to continuous improvement in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate CNC Mill machines and fabrication equipment
• Assist with programming and operation of CNC equipment, including 5‑axis machining
• Load and unload metal materials into CNC mills.
• Perform machine setups, tooling changes, and offsets
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements
• Verify tool and part dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators
• Inspect finished products to ensure conformance to quality standards and specifications
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on CNC mills.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Assist with tooling selection, tooling maintenance, and process optimization
• Support inventory tracking and material management as needed
• Collaborate with production, fabrication, and engineering teams to meet production goals
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Preferred Technical Experience

• 5‑axis CNC programming experience (preferred)
• Gibbs
  
  CAM programming experience (preferred)
• Solid Works 3D modeling experience (preferred)
• Background in CNC tooling, fixturing, and setup optimization
• Experience assisting or performing CNC programming is a strong plus

Education & Training

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of CNC machine operation experience
• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes and machining equipment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods
• Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry materials
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

• Hiring Salary Range: $20.00‑$25.00/hour ($1.00 differential rate)

Location

Tea, SD (right off I‑29)

Work Hours

7:00am to 4:30pm Monday – Friday (40hrs + 5hrs overtime per week)

Working Conditions & Workwear Requirements

• This position will be working primarily indoors where the work area is heated, but not air‑conditioned.
• You will be working around industrial equipment and the noise level is usually moderate but can be higher in some areas at times.
• You will be required to wear safety boots in accordance with our company policy, DeGeest shirts (provided by the company), safety glasses, earplugs, and appropriate attire for the position - Leathers for welding, gloves, apron, etc.
