Basic Function
Kern Community College District is accepting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors on a continuous basis. Qualified applicants will be contacted as needed. Applications remain active for up to two years.

The starting salary is $60.00/hour, with potential variations based on assignment and LHE formula. Refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement for details.

Representative Duties
The instructor will teach English and Reading courses, possibly at multiple campus sites, including day, evening, weekend, large classes, and online.
Additional responsibilities include student recruitment, curriculum development, maintaining subject matter currency, and participating in departmental activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition.
OR Bachelor's in these fields plus a Master's in linguistics, TESL, speech, education (with reading specialization), creative writing, or journalism.
OR equivalent qualifications, with documentation required.
A demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds is essential.
Degrees from outside the U.S. must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service.

Knowledge & Abilities
Candidates should demonstrate broad discipline knowledge and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students, develop curricula, assess student outcomes, and utilize technology.
