DescriptionThe Human Resources (HR) Coordinator supports HR processes at all business locations, but is based at the Tehachapi, California headquarters location. This role administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits‑related problems, ensures effective use of plans, and develops positive employee relations. The Human Resources Coordinator ensures that plans are administered per federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed.
This role provides administrative support to the human resources function as needed, including record‑keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.
- Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions. Supports annual open enrollment. Reconciles benefits statements.
- Performs internal customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow‑up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
- Administers pre‑employment screening and other functions in the onboarding process.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
- Administers employee leaves of absence.
- Assists with processing of separations.
- Supports the preparation of the performance review process.
- Files documents into appropriate personnel records, ensuring external educational accreditation standards are met or exceeded.
- Performs other accreditation functions pertaining to human resources.
- Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions. Processes incoming mail.
- Coordinates executive communications. Prepares correspondence as requested.
- Arranges/publishes company newsletter and organizes company events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Working understanding of human resources principles, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well under pressure.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or at least two years’ related experience required.
- SHRM-CP credential preferred.
- Paylocity HRIS experience preferred.
- Benefits administration experience preferred.
