Assistant Accountant

Our client, a reputable accountancy practice based in Telford, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their friendly team on an initial 12 month FTC. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of limited companies and sole traders, handling accounts preparation and tax compliance. • Perform manual double entry bookkeeping
• Conduct bank reconciliations
• Prepare working papers to trial balance level, including prepayments, accruals and depreciation
• Communicate with clients to resolve accounting/bookkeeping issues
• Complete VAT returns and submit tax returns
• Draft financial statements for various business entities
• Communicate with HMRC online to set up PAYE schemes and VAT registrations
• Resolve queries with HMRC both by telephone and online

• Proven experience in an accountancy practice, particularly in accounts preparation and tax compliance
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero or Quick Books
• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational and time management abilities
