Receptionist

Hays are working with a business in Telford who are looking to recruit a Temporary Receptionist who is responsible for providing front of house support, ensuring all visitors are welcomed professionally and that reception operations run smoothly. The role supports site staff, visitors, and contractors by coordinating access, managing passes, handling incoming post, and maintaining an organised reception area.

Your new role
As a Temporary Receptionist, your role will involve:

  • Greet and sign in all visitors on arrival.
  • Inform staff when their guests have arrived.
  • Hand out visitor and staff passes.
  • Create new passes for newly onboarded staff.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming reception area.
  • Liaise with site teams when contractors are due to attend.
  • Ensure contractors follow sign in procedures.
  • Support coordination of contractor access as required.
  • Administrative Support.
  • Sort incoming and outgoing post.
  • Book meeting rooms and maintain the room schedule.
  • Assist with reception related queries from staff and visitors.
  • Carry out general administrative duties as required.
  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional and confident front of house manner.
  • Strong organisation and time management abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and manage a busy reception area.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Reliable, punctual, and proactive.
  • Previous reception or customer facing experience (desirable).
  • Competent with basic IT systems (email, visitor systems, pass management).
  • Experience handling visitors, contractors, or meeting room bookings (advantageous)
  • Able to start immediately or on short notice.
  • Friendly, approachable, and calm under pressure.
  • Strong customer service mindset.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative.
