We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our welcoming team as a Receptionist/Administrator.
Working within our busy GP practice, you will support clinicians and colleagues to deliver an efficient, caring, and patient-focused service. As the first point of contact for patients, you will provide a professional reception service, manage enquiries, appointments, and administrative tasks, and help signpost patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and customer service skills, be highly organised, and able to work effectively in a busy environment. Good IT skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
Previous experience in a GP practice or knowledge of EMIS Web or other clinical systems would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the jobTo provide an efficient and professional reception and administrative service within the practice, acting as the first point of contact for patients and a focal point of communication between patients, GPs, and other members of the practice team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding promptly and courteously to patient enquiries, both in person and by telephone.
- Receiving and processing incoming telephone calls, directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service.
- Accurately recording and updating patient information on the clinical system.
- Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments as required.
- Processing prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
- Scanning, coding, and filing medical correspondence and letters accurately within patient records.
- Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection requirements at all times.
- Providing administrative support to clinicians and other members of the practice team.
- Contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and delivering excellent customer service to patients.
The post holder may be required to undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role to meet the needs of the practice.

Job responsibilities- Answer telephone calls in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
- Book, amend, and cancel appointments with the appropriate healthcare professional, both by telephone and face-to-face.
- Respond to patient enquiries and complete administrative tasks within agreed timescales.
- Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice protocols.
- Liaise with patients, pharmacies, and clinicians regarding medication queries and requests.
- Ensure repeat medications are issued safely and in line with established practice procedures.
- Accurately scan and code patient-related correspondence and documents onto electronic medical records using agreed clinical coding systems.
- Forward correspondence and information to the appropriate GP, nurse, or healthcare professional for action.
- Scan and file internal paper documents into patient records and store documentation in accordance with practice procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records while adhering to confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of practice procedures and services.
- Work in accordance with all practice policies, procedures, and written protocols.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Practice Manager.

- Experience of working in a GP Practice
- Experience of Emis Web clinical system
