General Cover Teacher

ABC Teachers, a leading education recruitment agency, is currently recruiting a General Cover Teacher to work in secondary schools across Telford. This role is ideal for qualified teachers seeking flexible work, short-term assignments, or consistent cover within local secondary schools.

About the role

As a General Cover Teacher, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across different subject areas, maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher. This role focuses on classroom delivery and behaviour management, with no planning or marking required in most placements.

Key responsibilities:

• Delivering pre-set lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Following school safeguarding procedures
• Providing feedback to teaching staff where required

About the school

You will be working across a variety of secondary schools in Telford, including academies and maintained schools. These schools are known for supportive senior leadership teams, clear behaviour policies, and well-structured cover systems, ensuring a positive working environment for supply and cover teachers.

The schools cater to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, offering opportunities to teach across a range of subjects without the responsibility of planning or marking.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of General Cover Teacher you will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Be eligible to work in the UK
• Have recent experience teaching in secondary schools
• Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Be flexible, reliable, and professional

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
