KS3/KS4 SEND Specialist Teacher

Telford

ASAP Start | Full-time | Long-term

Looking for a teaching role where you can slow things down, build real relationships, and actually see the difference you’re making?

This specialist SEND setting in Shrewsbury is looking for a committed and compassionate teacher to support pupils across KS3 and KS4, with an immediate start available for the right person. Better still, the role has the potential to become permanent for a teacher who’s the right fit for the school and its pupils.

You’ll be working with young people with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and communication differences. Many pupils have experienced disrupted education, so this isn’t about ticking boxes or racing through content. It’s about rebuilding trust, confidence, and helping students reconnect with learning in a calm and consistent environment.

Small classes. Strong support. Teaching that feels meaningful again.

The Role

We’re looking for a reflective and adaptable SEND Specialist Teacher to deliver a personalised curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

You’ll have the support of experienced Learning Support Assistants in class, giving you the time and space to focus on what matters most, helping pupils make progress academically, emotionally, and socially.

The curriculum includes pathways such as:

  • Functional Skills English and Maths
  • Entry Level qualifications
  • ASDAN, EDUCAS and AQA Unit Awards
  • Personalised and vocational learning pathways

This role is ideal for someone who understands that success can look different for every learner. Some days it’s academic progress, other days it’s a pupil walking into class calmly for the first time all week. Both matter here.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Delivering engaging and accessible lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Adapting learning to meet a range of SEND and SEMH needs
  • Supporting pupils through accredited and personalised pathways
  • Using trauma-informed and relationship-led approaches
  • Embedding communication strategies including visuals and scaffolding
  • Working closely with LSAs, therapists and wider professionals
  • Monitoring progress, both academically and emotionally
  • Supporting APDRs, regulation plans and risk assessments
  • Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils and families
What the School Offers
  • Very small class sizes
  • Consistent classroom support
  • A calm and structured learning environment
  • SEND-focused CPD and development opportunities
  • Supportive and approachable leadership
  • Outdoor learning opportunities
  • A genuine focus on staff wellbeing
  • The opportunity to secure a permanent role
Who This Role Would Suit

This could be a brilliant fit for:

  • SEND or SEMH teachers
  • Secondary teachers looking for a more personalised approach
  • Teachers with Functional Skills or Entry Level experience
  • Primary teachers interested in KS3/KS4 SEND provision
  • Educators moving from mainstream into specialist settings
What We’re Looking For

You’ll need to:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have at least one year of teaching experience
  • Be confident adapting lessons and curriculum delivery
  • Bring patience, flexibility and emotional intelligence
  • Understand the importance of communication and regulation in learning

Be committed to developing specialist SEND practice
  • Value consistency, relationships and a calm approach
Why Work with Protocol Education?
  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities across SEND, mainstream and alternative provision
  • Simple and streamlined registration process
  • Referral rewards for recommending friends
