Academic Engagement Manager

We are now recruiting a new role for this key client. We’re looking for a relationship-driven professional to lead engagement with universities and research institutions for a purpose-led organisation at the forefront of agricultural innovation.

This is a key role within the external affairs function, responsible for building and managing partnerships that enable collaboration between industry and academia. You’ll play a central part in connecting innovative businesses with the research expertise, facilities and capabilities they need to grow and succeed.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll ensure the organisation is positioned as a trusted and high-value partner within the innovation ecosystem—supporting both technical delivery and long-term capability development.

• Build and manage relationships with universities, research institutes and academic networks
• Act as the primary operational contact for academic partners
• Coordinate and deliver engagement activities, including meetings, workshops and site visits
• Facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange between internal teams and academic stakeholders
• Maintain a strong understanding of partner capabilities, facilities and strategic priorities
• Support the development of partnerships that enable programme delivery and innovation

• Experience working within or alongside the research or higher education sector
• Proven ability to build and manage strong academic stakeholder relationships
• Understanding of how partnerships support innovation and commercialisation
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A collaborative, proactive approach to stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of the UK R&D funding landscape
• Experience with in agriculture or agri-tech
