Teaching Assistant – Special Needs Support
Telford & Wrekin Council’s Linden Centre is seeking three enthusiastic, energetic, inspirational and innovative Teaching Assistants to join our specialist team this term. We support children in KS1–4 who exhibit challenging behaviours that impede learning.
The successful candidate will be dedicated to improving outcomes for these children and to supporting families and other professionals. They will provide support for teachers’ programmes of learning, assessment and nurture to support children and young people. Duties include supporting core subject learning and assessing the learning and social/emotional needs of learners, as well as supporting interventions and therapeutic workshops.
- Evidence of commitment to continued professional and personal development.
- Understanding of issues relating to achievement and inclusion of children.
- Working knowledge of policies and practice relating to vulnerable learners.
- Commitment to Equalities and Inclusion.
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding issues.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- High level of interpersonal skills to relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain written records of initial assessments and other relevant records.
- Excellent ICT skills.
- Initiative and self‑directed, well organised to manage time and workload and meet deadlines.
- Confident working with and managing children and young people.
- Ability to work constructively as part of a team and build productive working relationships.
- Good timekeeper, reliable and punctual.
