Job Description

Job Title:
Engineering Scheduler

Reports into: MRE Manager

Role Summary

Reporting into the Engineering function, the Engineering Scheduler drives the planning and execution of the site’s maintenance programme to improve reliability, reduce downtime and maximise the effective use of resources. You will own and develop CMMS standards and routines, act as the first point of contact for CMMS issues, and generate interactive reports and Excel dashboards that highlight performance, trends and areas for improvement.

Responsible for load-levelling the 12-month maintenance schedule and the detailed 52-week plan, you will balance workloads, secure production downtime, and plan short-, medium- and long-term jobs to ensure the correct labour, skills, spares and materials are in place.

The role requires close cross-functional collaboration with Maintenance Leads, Production Planning, Stores and Procurement to ensure “job in box” (JIB) and materials are delivered on time, and to support training, skill-gap analysis and a maintained skills matrix. You will assist with annual asset criticality assessments by preparing and presenting data, support budget forecasts for planned maintenance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives and World Class Manufacturing techniques across the maintenance organisation.

The Scheduler will also own the site lubrication standardisation effort—reviewing methods, materials and practices and implementing auditable standards—and support compliance to EHS and relevant regulations (e.g., LOLER, pressure systems).

Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain a proactive approach to reduce workplace hazards and risks and create a safe, healthy working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate consistent compliance with, and support for, site Environment, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Support site compliance by maintaining an understanding of LOLER and Pressure Systems regulations and working with the Utilities Manager as required.
Planning & Scheduling
  • Own and drive the planning process to ensure scheduled maintenance and asset care programmes are executed safely and to plan.
  • Control and balance the 12-month maintenance schedule, including load-levelling to ensure an even distribution of working hours across teams and sites.
  • Load level the 52-week site and area plans; cross-reference the maintenance plan with downtime, labour, tools and knowledge to ensure successful completion.
  • Secure and coordinate production downtime to enable planned maintenance activities to be completed as scheduled.
  • Develop and manage short-, medium- and long-term maintenance plans to ensure correct labour levels, skill sets, materials and equipment are available to execute work.
CMMS, Data & Reporting
  • Administer and implement CMMS amendments to the required standard; act as first point of contact for CMMS issues.
  • Drive CMMS standards that align with global and site agendas; support areas with a solutions-focused approach when implementing standards.
  • Create, update and implement maintenance routines in the CMMS: generate new routines, schedule tasks, update task lists, implement BOMs and alter component lists.
  • Develop the necessary reports in the CMMS.
  • Develop, generate and own interactive dashboards that will be used to drive daily actions and MRE strategy.
  • Be proficient in Excel and other analysis tools to build new dashboards that identify areas for improvement, highlight issues, and support action planning with maintenance leads.
  • Provide effective communication and reporting to maintenance leads and other stakeholders, highlighting risks, resource constraints and proposed mitigations.
Reliability, Strategy & Asset Management
  • Lead Maintenance Management System and maintenance strategy development, progressing toward modular Condition Based Maintenance, Cycle Based Maintenance and Time Based Replacement.
  • Assist with annual asset criticality assessments by preparing, presenting and supplying required data to maintenance leads and supporting adherence to the criticality process.
