Multisite Responsibility | Permanent | Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

UK (Telford – Manufacturing Environment)
We are seeking a proactive and technically capable Sustainability Champion to lead and deliver energy and sustainability initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites. This is a hands-on role suited to an engineering professional who is passionate about driving measurable environmental improvements while supporting operational excellence.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Operational Excellence & Launch, you will take ownership of energy management, sustainability performance, and compliance across the division. You will ensure alignment with ISO 50001 standards, internal business systems, and evolving legislative requirements, while delivering tangible cost and carbon reductions.
This is a high-impact role requiring strong project management capability, data-driven decision making, and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Energy Management
* Identify and deliver energy-saving opportunities
* Lead profitability calculations and ROI assessments for energy projects
* Drive continuous improvement in energy efficiency through technical and organisational measures
* Promote renewable energy solutions where viable
* Ensure divisional compliance with current energy legislation
* Raise awareness through training and engagement initiatives
Energy Monitoring & Cost Planning
* Monitor and record energy consumption (electricity, gas, compressed air, water, etc.)
* Analyse usage trends and identify optimisation opportunities
* Support budget planning and cost forecasting
* Conduct ongoing validation of monitoring data
Sustainability Leadership
* Act as the divisional lead for sustainability-related initiatives
* Implement carbon reduction strategies and GHG emission targets
* Develop and implement life cycle assessment frameworks
* Ensure compliance with OEM sustainability requirements and regional legislation
* Promote waste, water, and energy reduction initiatives
* Develop business cases and ROI calculations for sustainability projects
Continuous Improvement & Benchmarking
* Lead energy and sustainability audits and improvement programmes
* Coordinate monthly reporting and KPI tracking
* Develop corrective action plans for identified gaps
* Benchmark innovative technologies and best practices
* Collaborate with group-level sustainability leads and cross-site teams
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Experience in a safety-critical manufacturing environment
* Engineering qualification (HNC or above)
* Proven delivery of energy-saving or sustainability projects
* Strong project management skills
* Knowledge of ISO 50001 standards
* Understanding of electrical, gas, and water efficiency technologies
* Strong organisational and analytical skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
