About the Role

The role is factory based, working in a fast‑paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment. You will be present 24/7 on a 4o4o shift pattern (06:00‑18:30 and 18:00‑06:30), covering both day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take a lead role within your team during breakdowns using your skills and experience.
  • Ensure that maintenance is carried out in line with PPM schedules with effective corrective action.
  • Provide a quick and effective response to breakdowns in multiple areas, identify root cause and suggest improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer and coordinate with operations to minimise plant disruption.
  • Follow engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department & site.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out within health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement.
  • Report timely any Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental issues.
  • Demonstrate basic fault‑finding techniques to identify root causes.
  • Raise Stock and Non‑Stock request forms.
  • Use the CMMS system for spare parts, to log and complete jobs.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
  • An advanced Engineering Apprenticeship in either mechanical or electrical disciplines.
  • Solid Engineering experience, ideally within food manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with process machinery or equivalent equipment and fault‑finding ability.
  • Mechanical fitting skills; machining, welding and fabrication experience are advantageous.
  • The ability to mentor colleagues.
  • A self‑motivated attitude with the ability to multi‑task and thrive in a timeline‑driven environment.
  • An individual who is keen to make a difference with pro‑activeness and a can‑do attitude.
  • Industrial refrigeration experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Desirable IEE 17th or 18th edition.
  • Desirable Advanced Electrical qualification.
  • Desirable good knowledge of PLCs, Variable speed drives and control systems.
