Job Description & How to Apply Below

Join as a Mechanical Design Engineer and help build next–generation automation for the automotive manufacturing world. This permanent, full–time role in Telford, UK, puts you at the centre of high–impact mechanical design work, combining concept thinking, CAD delivery, and hands–on project support. If you enjoy turning ideas into robust equipment, Mechanical Design Engineer is your opportunity to make a real difference and keep improving how production runs.

What You Will Do:
  • Own the mechanical design phase of projects, including equipment layouts and detailed solutions for a range of equipment.
  • Apply Design for Manufacture principles to simplify designs, reduce components, and support efficient manufacturing and assembly.
  • Create and maintain accurate CAD models and 2D drawings using Solid Works or CATIA, ensuring clear revision control for manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Support simulation and buy–off activities, including sampling, commissioning, and pre and final acceptance tests at suppliers and on the home line.
  • Manage supplier relationships and project work streams, translating requirements into practical, cost–effective outcomes.
  • Help validate FEA analysis during buy–off and contribute to continuous improvement through root–cause analysis and countermeasures.
What You Will Bring:
  • Strong mechanical design capability with experience working in an engineering environment (front–end design experience is highly valuable).
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD, ideally Solid Works or CATIA, plus a solid understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances, including GD&T.
  • Familiarity with design simulation and validation processes, alongside confidence with Microsoft Office packages.
  • A proactive mindset for problem solving, including experience with root–cause analysis and process improvement approaches such as DFMEA/PFMEA (desirable).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK, with willingness to travel across Europe as required for supplier buy–off and commissioning activities.

This Mechanical Design Engineer role supports the company s focus on delivering advanced solutions for the automotive industry, where reliability, safety, and cost–effectiveness matter. Your work will strengthen end–to–end design delivery, from conceptualisation through prototyping and integration, helping improve automation systems that support smarter, more efficient production.
