Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Multi Skilled Engineer on behalf of a client based near the Much Wenlock area. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with expertise in electrical and mechanical systems. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency. The successful applicant will demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to supervise and mentor junior team members.
A proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving is essential to support the organisation's continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take ownership of day-to-day maintenance activities across production operations.
- Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain filling lines, blending equipment, pumps, conveyors, pneumatic systems and associated production machinery.
- Diagnose and resolve breakdowns to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.
- Manage engineering spare parts inventory and ensure critical spares are maintained.
- Source and order parts, also consumables required for maintenance activities.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors for technical support when needed.
- Installation, commissioning and improvement of new machinery and plant.
- Assist with PLC fault finding and work alongside external automation providers.
- Lead minor engineering projects from concept through to completion.
- Identify recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Support production teams and provide technical guidance and training where required.
- Promote high standards of safety, housekeeping and engineering workmanship.
- Recognised electrical qualification.
- Experience fault-finding electrical systems, motors, sensors, contractors and industrial machinery.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Experience with pneumatics and production equipment.
- PLC fault-finding experience would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
