Position: Clinical Support - Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist

The Cardiorespiratory Department at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a highly specialised cardiac physiologist to support acute sites and the Community Diagnostic Centre. The role will support the Cardiorespiratory team at three sites – Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Hollinswood House Community Diagnostic Centre – as part of a rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide experienced and multi‑skilled, hands‑on provision in the complete range of cardiac investigations.
  • Perform and report transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) unsupervised, to BSE standards.
  • Support specialist echo techniques, including stress and contrast echo, in addition to routine TTE.
  • Support transoesophageal echo (TOE) and other invasive procedures.
  • Experience in 12‑lead exercise ECG, Holter analysis and cardiology support during CPEX is desirable.
  • Provide training and assessments to staff of various grades within the specialty areas.
Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for a fully BSE accredited echocardiographer for a 12‑month maternity cover. Candidates should have significant NHS experience at B7 level and be able to independently perform and report TTE and support complex echo such as DSE/TOE. Proficiency in leading ETT and performing Holter analysis is desirable. Candidates will be expected to manage, plan and prioritise tasks efficiently to achieve and maintain a high standard of patient care.

The post holder will act as a key member of the team, providing accurate, comprehensive and sympathetic care to patients, and will participate in the supervision and mentoring of students and junior staff.
