We support a range of patients from a diverse demographic, varying in age and care requirementswhich can include mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and patients with more complex clinical needs. As a Healthcare Assistant duties will vary depending on each patients individual needs. These may include NHShealth checks, ECGs, Bloods, support with community outings (community Flu jabsin season) as well as offering full support to our nursing team and our doctors.

Assisting with clinical duties including infection prevention and control, promoting positive mental/physical/nutritional health with patients, checking and ordering supplies.

Support team available, 4GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, an ANP, 3 Nurses, 2 HCAs' and a multitude ofamazing admin and reception staff
Job responsibilitiesDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
CLINICAL
To work under indirect supervision of the nursing team carrying out agreed procedures which include but are not exhaustive:
Blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight, venepuncture, urinalysis, ECG, peak flow readings, inhaler technique, assisting with NHS Health Checks assisting with care plans pre-assessments, assist with simple dressings, B12 injections.
To give flu injections to the over 60s only, with practice nurse supervision.
Assist at coil fitting clinics and minor surgery clinics. And ensuring patients booked in receive prior information.
To be responsible for checking daily that the Practice emergency equipment is in full working order and correctly stored.
ADMINISTRATION
To ensure all medical equipment is in full working order, organising servicing and replacement equipment as appropriate, liaising with the Clinical Administrator where necessary.
To be responsible for checking that medical waste disposal is being carried out correctly in accordance with Practice Health & Safety protocols and that there are adequate supplies of sharps bins and yellow waste sacks.
To be responsible for checking on a weekly basis that all consulting rooms are fully stocked with relevant equipment, and redistribute as necessary.
To liaise with Management to ensure appropriate stock level of coil fitting instruments and be responsible for their safe and tidy storage.
To be responsible for ensuring no out-of-date clinical stock is being used anywhere in the Practice.
Person Specification Qualifications- Experienced Health Care Assistant
- NVQ Level 2 in Care
- At least 1 years experience in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of EMIS Web
- Experience of working within a team
- Experience of working within a pressurised environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a sympathetic and caring approach
- Willingness to take advice, follow instruction and undertake delegated duties
- Ability to operate a computerised patient record system
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Self Motivated
- Experience of working in a GP Practice
