Payroll Assistant
Location:
West Midlands - Hybrid (1 day a week)
Duration: 3 Months
Hourly rate: up to £17.24 + Holiday per hour
Full Time: 36 hours per week
Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for a Payroll Assistant to join our reputable public sector organisation based in West Midlands. This is a contract for 3 months, with a possibility to be extended, and is offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 1 day a week in the office.
The duties of the Payroll Assistant will include:
Processing weekly and monthly payroll information
Inputting employee data, including starters, leavers and contract changes
Recording overtime, bonuses, commission payments and deductions
Calculating statutory payments such as sick pay, maternity pay and paternity pay
Checking timesheets and attendance records for accuracy
Maintaining employee payroll records and personnel files
Processing pension contributions and benefit deductions
Responding to employee payroll queries and resolving discrepancies
Producing payroll reports for management and finance teams
Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and company policies
Submitting payroll data to HMRC and other relevant bodies
Reconciling payroll reports and identifying any errors before payment runs
Assisting with year-end payroll activities, including P60s and P11
Ds where required
The Payroll Assistant ideally should:
Have a minimum of 2 years payroll experience
Be educated to GCSE mathematics or equivalent
Have experience in a similar level
Have knowledge and understanding of current payroll legislation
Have knowledge of statutory legislation including taxation, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP and P45s and P46s
The Payroll Assistant will need to have excellent communication skills and effectively be able to communicate to stakeholders of all levels. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have an impeccable eye for detail and accuracy to ensure all workload is carried out effectively and efficiently. They will also need to able to prioritise their workload and be efficient and effective to meet unpredictable deadlines and deal with conflicting demands, whilst working in a high-pressured environment.
