We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Head of Building Compliance to join our leadership team. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of building safety and statutory compliance across our housing portfolio. You'll provide strategic leadership, professional expertise and operational accountability, helping us deliver safe homes, exceptional services and full regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will demonstrate the highest levels of professional integrity, transparency and accountability, ensuring risks, issues and performance are managed proactively and openly.

As Head of Building Compliance, you will:

• Lead and oversee all building compliance services, ensuring statutory obligations are consistently met across the housing portfolio.
• Translate evolving regulatory requirements, including the Building Safety Act, into effective policies, procedures, controls and service delivery models.
• Support the Director of Building Compliance and Safety in discharging duty holder responsibilities, including oversight of safety cases, building safety information and assurance arrangements for in-scope buildings.
• Lead the development and delivery of customer-focused, risk-based and cost-effective compliance programmes, ensuring services are delivered safely and effectively.
• Drive performance management across the compliance function, using data, insight and benchmarking to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and value for money.
• Provide visible leadership, fostering a positive safety culture and supporting organisational compliance objectives.

We’re looking for a strategic and influential leader with significant experience in building compliance and safety management. You will hold a relevant CIH Level 4 qualification, or be willing to work towards this qualification within an agreed timeframe. Ongoing maintenance of the qualification and a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) are essential.

You’ll have:

• Extensive knowledge and experience of statutory building compliance and safety requirements within social housing or a similarly regulated sector.
• Experience of implementing and/or managing compliance services within the context of the Building Safety Act.
• A proven track record of developing strategic plans to address workforce challenges and deliver positive outcomes.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different stakeholders and situations.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences.
• Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across multiple functions to deliver complex, high-risk services or transformation programmes.
• A strong commitment to professional development, ensuring your knowledge and expertise remain current within a fast-evolving regulatory environment.
• Unquestionable professional integrity, with a commitment to openness, transparency and ethical decision-making in the management of safety-critical services and regulatory responsibilities.
