CNC Sliding Head Setter/Operator

Our established and forward‑thinking manufacturing client based in Stafford Park, Telford is looking for a full time, temporary to permanent CNC sliding head machinist to join their team.

As a CNC sliding head machinist you will be setting and programming specialised sliding head lathes to produce high precision, small complex parts often in high volume batches. You will be setting and operating including modifying, loading and editing Fanuc programs and installing collets, guide bushes and bar feeders.

Quality Control will form a large part of the role, performing inspections, in process checks using micrometres, verniers and shadow graphs to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and engineering drawings. In addition, making sure you are improving production efficiency by optimizing speeds, feeds and tool life to reduce cycle times, and ensuring the correct selection of appropriate cutting tools, whilst performing daily machine maintenance to maintain a clean safe work environment.

• Proven experience in setting and operating CNC sliding head machines.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
• Proficient with Fanuc controls.
• Experience machining various materials, including stainless steel, titanium, and alloys.
• Ability to resolve issues with chip control, surface finish, and tolerances.
• Been in high‑precision engineering or manufacturing environments (e.g., medical, aerospace, automotive).
• Have worked with small, complex components, sometimes requiring multi‑axis machining (3‑5 axis).

7.30 – 4.30

£15.00 - £16.00 per hour D.O.E
