Quality Engineering
Swift Temps NW are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer / Engineering Liaison to support specialist engineering and manufacturing projects within a highly regulated environment.
This is a varied technical role combining dimensional inspection, CAD scanning, supplier quality assurance and engineering liaison. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, inspection and supplier teams to ensure components and assemblies meet exact design specifications and quality requirements.
A key part of the role will be acting as a link between engineering design and practical manufacturing, helping interpret technical requirements, investigate discrepancies, resolve quality issues and ensure that components conform to approved drawings and specifications.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in 3D scanning and dimensional inspection, supplier quality assurance, or engineering liaison within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience across all three areas would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities Engineering Liaison & Technical Support- Act as a point of contact between engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement and external suppliers on technical and quality-related matters.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications and tolerances to communicate component requirements clearly.
- Liaise with design and manufacturing engineers to investigate dimensional discrepancies, component defects and manufacturing issues.
- Help identify whether quality issues relate to manufacturing processes, supplier components, drawing requirements or design specifications.
- Communicate technical findings and inspection results to the relevant engineering teams, supporting decisions on component conformity and corrective action.
- Coordinate the investigation and resolution of technical queries, ensuring issues are recorded, followed up and closed out appropriately.
- Support engineering changes and revisions by ensuring the relevant drawings, specifications and inspection requirements are understood and applied.
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical queries and prevent repeat issues.
- Escalate significant quality concerns or potential risks to the appropriate engineering or quality personnel.
- Maintain clear records of technical discussions, decisions, actions and outcomes to support traceability.
- Carry out dimensional inspections of precision-engineered components and assemblies using 3D scanning equipment and other appropriate measurement technologies.
- Compare scanned components against CAD models, engineering drawings and specified tolerances to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Identify deviations, manufacturing discrepancies and potential non-conformances, ensuring findings are accurately documented.
- Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances to establish appropriate inspection requirements.
- Generate and review inspection reports, scan data and dimensional comparison results.
- Work with engineering teams to assess dimensional findings and support the resolution of component conformity issues.
- Support first-off inspections and component verification activities where required.
- Ensure inspection methods and measurement equipment are suitable for the components being assessed.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure results are traceable to the relevant component, drawing or specification.
- Support the assessment and monitoring of suppliers to ensure components, materials and supplied services meet specified quality requirements.
- Review supplier inspection reports, certificates of conformity, material certifications and associated technical documentation.
- Verify that supplied components conform to approved drawings, specifications and purchase requirements.
- Investigate supplier-related defects, dimensional discrepancies and documentation issues.
- Raise and manage non-conformance reports, ensuring issues are investigated and resolved appropriately.
- Work with suppliers and engineering teams to establish root causes and agree corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and help prevent repeat quality issues.
- Support supplier quality reviews, audits and improvement activities where required.
- Liaise with procurement, engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve supplier issues and minimise disruption.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, inspection evidence…
