Monday to Friday

We are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Business Manager to join an established international engineering business and take responsibility for developing and managing its UK customer base.

This is a commercially focused role combining technical sales, business development, key account management and leadership. You will work with manufacturing and engineering businesses across the UK, primarily within the Midlands, building long-term relationships and developing opportunities for high-value, technically complex machinery and associated products and services.

The sales cycle can be lengthy, with some machinery projects planned several years in advance. Success will therefore come from staying close to customers, understanding their future requirements and ensuring you are front of mind when they are ready to invest.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and develop relationships with existing manufacturing and engineering customers across the UK.

* Identify and develop new business opportunities and support continued market growth.

* Visit customers regularly to understand their current requirements, future projects and investment plans.

* Sell complete machinery, additional equipment, options and technology upgrades.

* Develop opportunities for spare parts, tooling, maintenance and repair services.

* Prepare and follow up quotations, enquiries and sales opportunities.

* Establish pricing frameworks and agreed commercial arrangements with key customers where appropriate.

* Maintain regular contact with customers throughout long sales cycles, providing updates on products, technology and new opportunities.

* Work closely with European sales, engineering, manufacturing and service teams to support customer requirements.

* Liaise with the manufacturing operation regarding production capacity, workload and delivery timescales.

* Work with the UK team to resolve customer and operational issues.

* Maintain relationships with key third-party suppliers and stay informed on new products and technological developments.

* Guide customers from initial order, through to completion and testing and delivery of the goods to ensure client satisfaction.

* As the role develops, take on increasing responsibility for the UK team and contribute to the wider commercial and operational direction of the business.

About You

We are looking for an outgoing, commercially minded and self-driven technical sales professional who is confident working with engineering and manufacturing customers.

You will ideally have:

* Proven experience in technical sales, business development or a similar commercial engineering role.

* Experience selling complex, bespoke or high-value technical products or equipment.

* Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of longer sales cycles.

* A proven ability to build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships.

* Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.

* The confidence to work independently and take ownership of a UK customer base.

* A proactive, entrepreneurial approach to identifying and developing opportunities.

* The ability to understand technical products and translate customer requirements into commercial opportunities.

* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities over extended sales cycles.

* The ambition and potential to develop into a broader business leadership role.

* A relevant technical qualification such as a degree, HNC/HND, technical apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience would also be beneficial.

* Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.
