Permanent Role | Telford-Based | Salary up to £38,000 (DOE)

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Tester looking for a stable, permanent role where quality engineering, technical challenge, and teamwork genuinely matter?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering business operating at the forefront of precision handling systems within the marine sector. Based primarily in Telford, you’ll play a key role in the build, installation, and testing of high-spec mechanical and hydraulic equipment—both in the factory and occasionally on customer sites.

What You’ll Be Doing

Mechanical fitting and assembly of precision-engineered systems
Installation of hydraulic components and pipework
Setting, testing, and commissioning machinery to a high standard
Reading and working from engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics
Using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment
Working to demanding time schedules without compromising quality
Supporting fault-finding and continuous improvement activities
Maintaining accurate job timesheets and documentation
Actively contributing to daily toolbox talks and safety initiatives
Mentoring apprentices and sharing technical knowledge
Representing the business professionally on customer sites when required

What We’re Looking For

A time-served Mechanical Fitter with a recognised apprenticeship
(NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred)
Strong hands-on experience in mechanical fitting and testing
Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems and schematics
Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings
A proactive, problem-solving mindset
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team
Strong commitment to Health & Safety, Quality, and best practice
Flexible attitude to overtime (including short-notice and weekends when required)
Desirable (but not essential)
Testing experience would be really advantageous but not essential - willing to consider CV's for fitters
Full UK driving licence
Valid passport for occasional site travel
