Probation Services Officer and Shropshire Courts

Job Overview

The Probation Service is looking for a Probation Services Officer to support offenders in the community. The role involves assessment, sentence implementation, offender management and reporting.

• Assess and manage risks of offenders before and after sentence.
• Provide case management support to a full range of people on probation following service procedures and practice directions.
• Produce clear and accurate reports to tight deadlines.
• Offer practical advice on housing and employment and give emotional support.
• Work closely with courts and agencies throughout the justice system.

• Empathetic, patient and resilient.
• Organised and able to manage a caseload.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties – a degree is not required.

• Starting salary of £28,064 with annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework.
• Annual leave of 25 days, increasing to 30 days after five years.
