Generalist Adviser (Financial Resilience) 3 Posts (Trainee or Experienced)

Location:

Telford and The Wrekin, with community outreach across the borough and office-based work at Stafford Park

Salary: £27,435 – £29,559 depending on experience and whether appointed as trainee or qualified adviser

Hours:

37 hours per week (some evenings and weekends required)

Contract:

Fixed term for 12 months, with potential for up to 3 years subject to funding and service performance

Citizens Advice Telford and The Wrekin is looking for 3 Generalist Adviser (Financial Resilience) posts to help local residents improve their financial resilience, maximise income, manage household budgets and access the right advice at the right time.

This is a practical, community-focused role supporting people across Telford and The Wrekin who may be affected by cost-of-living pressures, insecure income, debt worries or difficulty managing household budgets. You’ll provide high-quality advice and support, including benefits checks, income maximisation, budgeting support, expenditure reduction and access to local schemes or other practical help.

This opportunity is funded by Telford and Wrekin Council and supports our priority to take advice further into local communities. You will meet clients in a range of settings, work with colleagues and community partners, and help ensure residents can access timely support before problems escalation.

About you

We’re looking for someone with strong communication and IT skills, sensitive listening and questioning skills, and a positive, non-judgemental approach. You will be able to explain information clearly, support clients to understand their options, keep accurate case records and work effectively as part of a team.

The role may suit an experienced adviser or the right trainee candidate who is committed to completing the required Citizens Advice training and developing their advice skills. Experience of benefits checks, income maximisation, budgeting support, financial capability work or debt advice would be helpful, but full training and support will be provided where appropriate.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a DBS check in line with Citizens Advice policy. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent appointment.
