About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Transport Planner to join their busy transport operation in Telford.
This is a key position within the traffic office, responsible for planning and coordinating deliveries, liaising with drivers and customers, and ensuring transport operations run efficiently and cost-effectively.
The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and confident working in a fast-paced transport environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and resolve operational issues quickly.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate vehicle movements and deliveries in line with customer requirements.
* Liaise with drivers, customers, depots and internal teams regarding schedules and operational updates.
* Identify and resolve transport and delivery issues proactively.
* Respond to customer enquiries by telephone and email.
* Maintain accurate transport records and complete relevant administration.
* Support the accounts and invoicing team with delivery-related queries.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Ensure transport planning activities comply with company procedures, industry regulations and health and safety requirements.
* Support fleet compliance planning, including vehicle inspection schedules.
* Assist with other reasonable duties and ad hoc tasks as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience within a transport, logistics or traffic planning environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
* The ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy operational environment.
* Knowledge or experience of transport planning systems would be advantageous.
