Junior Civil Design Technician Projects

Our client, a rapidly growing civil engineering firm specializing in residential and commercial developments, is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Civil Design Technician to join their team in Tembisa, Gauteng
. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with a few years of experience to gain hands‑on experience in a supportive environment. You will be working under the guidance of experienced engineers and technicians on a variety of exciting local projects, assisting with drafting, design, and documentation. The focus will be on learning and developing skills in municipal services, road design, and site development within the Tembisa area and surrounding regions.

• Assist senior engineers and technicians in the preparation of civil engineering drawings and plans using CAD software.
• Perform basic design calculations for storm water, sewer reticulation, and water supply systems.
• Conduct site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions under supervision.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and bill of quantities.
• Ensure all drawings and documents adhere to company standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders as directed by the project manager.
• Learn and apply relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and municipal by‑laws.
• Maintain project files and documentation accurately.
• Participate in project team meetings and contribute to problem‑solving efforts.
• Undertake general drafting and design tasks as assigned by senior staff.

• A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with Civil 3D or similar is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, particularly in municipal infrastructure.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and calculations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn and develop professionally within the civil engineering sector.
• Familiarity with South African engineering practices is a plus.
• A proactive attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Tembisa, Gauteng area to facilitate site visits and team collaboration.
