The Field Operations Supervisor (FSO) serves as the on-site leader responsible for supervising and directing field operations on automation and SCADA integration projects. This position ensures that all field activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and timelines. Acting as the primary liaison between field services technicians, subcontractors, and project managers, the Field Superintendent plays a critical role in the real-time coordination of personnel, equipment, and site readiness.
This role also leads emergency response mobilizations and technical support during unplanned system events or failures. The ideal candidate has a solid background in industrial automation, strong leadership skills, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Duties & Responsibilities
Field Oversight & Execution
- Supervise daily job site activities for automation system installation, integration, and commissioning.
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to meet milestones and maintain schedule adherence.
- Ensure execution aligns with design documents, safety standards, and client specifications.
- Submit daily progress updates and field reports to project management.
Emergency & Technical Response
- Lead rapid-response efforts for system failures or urgent field service needs.
- Serve as on-site lead during after-hours support, coordinating diagnostics and backup teams.
- Assist engineering and PM teams with troubleshooting, procurement, and field remediation.
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with PMs and Engineers on site readiness, resource allocation, and schedule planning.
- Support site walks, kickoff meetings, and client interface.
- Maintain accurate field documentation, redlines, and commissioning records.
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Enforce ATSI and client safety protocols; conduct tailgate meetings and field audits.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and client-specific regulations, with attention to California compliance.
Requirements:
- High school diploma required; associate’s degree or technical certification preferred.
- 8–12+ years of hands‑on field experience with automation, SCADA, or industrial controls.
- Proven leadership managing field teams in industrial or municipal environments.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation, control panels, and industrial networking.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficient with mobile reporting tools (e.g., iPads, MS Teams, SharePoint) Excellent communication and decision‑making skills; adaptable to dynamic environments.
Required:
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Safety Certification
- Willing to travel and support on‑call rotations.
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass DoD background check and drug screening.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with field work, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred:
- NICET Level II or III in Instrumentation, Industrial Controls, or Electrical Systems
- EM385‑1 Safety Certification (for federal/military sites)
- Current CPR / First Aid Certification
- Confined Space Entry & Arc Flash Safety Training (in accordance with NFPA 70E and Cal/OSHA)
- Water/Wastewater Operator Certification (Grade 1 or higher)
- Manufacturer‑specific certifications (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or Inductive Automation).
The ideal candidates will have experience supporting SCADA and controls systems in municipal water and wastewater environments (e.g., treatment plants, pump stations), as well as working in sanitary food and beverage facilities with batch processing, CIP/SIP systems, and familiarity with regulatory standards such as EPA, FDA, USDA, and FSMA.
