Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician assists with scheduling of IR, Cath Lab, Radiology, and other invasive and noninvasive cardiology and/or vascular procedures as needed. The technician provides required forms for physician use, establishes new medical records for admissions, and documents discharge records promptly. Additional duties include assisting patients with activities of daily living (bathing, feeding, ambulating, surgical preps, etc.), providing safe and timely patient transport, reporting appropriate data to the RN, and notifying the relief charge nurse or clinical supervisor as required.

The technician also communicates with physician offices, insurance verifiers, PAS, physicians, PAT nurses, Cath Lab leadership, and patients regarding scheduling needs, answering call lights professionally, and assisting visitors as required.

Responsibilities

Assist with scheduling of cardiovascular procedures and other related services; provide necessary documentation; maintain accurate medical records; support patient care activities; facilitate patient transport; report data to nursing staff; communicate effectively with medical and ancillary departments; manage patient and visitor needs; uphold professional standards in call light response and patient interactions.

Qualifications
  • Six (6) months of experience as a CNA or Paramedic (preferred)
  • High School diploma or equivalent (strongly preferred)
  • Current California CNA license, EMT, or Paramedic required
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association required
  • Basic dysrhythmia certification within 90 days of hire
