HOURLY/SALARY
$17.50 PER HOUR

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Umi Host provides a warm greeting for guests, circulates the room while seating guests, and accommodates the initial interaction between guests and the service team. The Umi Host should permeate a welcoming persona to each guest walking by or into the restaurant. Their purpose is to start the dining experience from the moment the guest arrives. The Umi Host is the first and last impression of the venue to guests.

The Umi Host controls the pace at which a restaurant fills and can affect the fluidity of an entire shift, and is responsible for correctly handling cash, credit, and comp procedures, as well as properly completing paperwork and providing guest service.

FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT

All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Guest Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort Casino.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Check reservation books, call reservations and confirm, and take reservations accurately.
  • Greet every guest upon arrival or on the phone with a smile and professional greeting.
  • Assign guests seating in accordance with table and stations rotation.
  • Control waitlist and reservations sheets for each shift.
  • Walk each guest/party to table in a pace that is appropriate for the guest, pull out chairs for ladies, hand out menus, and wish guests a pleasurable dining experience.
  • Perform assigned cashier duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
  • Count and verify all cash exchanges to outlet servers and guests.
  • Process guest charges including credit cards, room charges, comps, discounts, and cash payments.
  • Reconcile and complete all required daily reports.
  • Make change or exchanges for internal guests.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily bank deposits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: A high school education or equivalent and at least one-year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred to successfully perform this job.

COMMUNICATION

SKILLS:

This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. It also requires the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members.

MATHEMATICAL

SKILLS:

The position requires the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's, including operations involving American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements.

REASONING ABILITY:
The position requires the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must qualify to obtain and maintain a Class “A” gaming license.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Ability to use a 10-Key Calculator.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Mentally strong and able to cope with many challenges.

  • Possess fluent English speaking, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Understand and comply with all company and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and guests.
  • Prior cash register and/or POS computer terminal and cash handling experience preferred but will train.
  • Ability to take direction from supervisors/managers.
  • Must be able to learn/operate cash registers, calculators, and credit card machines.
  • Must be able to learn/operate telephones.
  • Must have regular and predictable attendance.
  • Must be available to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, and graveyard shifts.
