DPS Dispatch Sergeant - Requisition

General Summary

The Department of Public Safety Dispatch Sergeant is responsible for the overall operation of the Dispatch Center along with the supervision of all dispatchers in the division. The Dispatch Sergeant will need to ensure all administrative and training standards are maintained, and will also be responsible for the various operating systems in the Dispatch Center.

All team members will display a Four Diamond commitment to guest service through the delivery and maintenance of the quality standards established by Pechanga Resort Casino (PRC).

• Manage daily dispatch operations.
• Ensure a safe environment at all times at PRC.
• Ensure all policies, rules, regulations, and laws as it pertains to PRC are followed and upheld.
• Enforce gaming regulations in accordance with the internal control policy.
• Cope constructively with team member and guest situations as they arise.
• Coordinate the allocation, training, and assignments of dispatchers and other assigned staff.
• Promote and build teamwork and trust.
• Effectively communicate all pertinent information to DPS team members.
• Proficiency in writing daily reports and other necessary documentation.
• Keep management of other PRC departments informed of developments that may impact their areas.
• Excel in effective coaching and counseling of direct reports, including performance reviews and progressive discipline.
• Other duties assigned.

This position has supervisory responsibilities including departmental training, performance journaling, making valuable recommendations for performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. The team member is also responsible for protecting the assets of PRC.

Additional requirements:

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; at least 2 years of supervisory experience, and at least 8–10 years in a related field such as military, security, or law enforcement is required to successfully perform this job.

This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. It also requires the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members of the organization.

This position requires the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry, as well as applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. It also requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Must be able to obtain a Class "A" gaming license.
