Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for maintaining daily logs for pre‑operative and post‑anesthesia patients in accordance with established policy. The CNA observes patient behavior, focusing on biophysical, developmental, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and sociocultural needs. Assistance is provided during transfer procedures, floor discharges, and personal care. The CNA assists in preparing patients for surgery (shaving, gowning, etc.), assists RNs with bedside nursing care, observes special equipment, tubes, drains, and assists with care of prosthetics and support devices as directed.

The CNA must prioritize and process physician orders accurately and within designated time frames, seeking assistance as needed. The CNA is responsible for answering patient calls, receiving, greeting, and directing patients/visitors, recording and delivering patient/staff messages.

Qualifications Education / Training /

Experience:
  • Six (6) months CNA experience preferred at an acute care facility
  • Current, valid California Certified Nursing Assistant certificate or equivalent
  • Evidence of completion of Nursing Fundamentals within the last 24 months from an accredited RN program AND currently enrolled in an accredited RN program
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association, current)
  • CPI or NCI certification within 90 days of hire and annual renewal thereafter
  • Ability to work in a high‑volume, fluctuating census environment
  • Subject to many interruptions
  • Subject to irregular hours
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with fluctuating noise levels
