Pet Smart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility for store cleanliness, maintenance, pet safety standards, and the direct care of pets within our store.

• Engage with pet parents in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online to ensure positive outcomes.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup, ensuring a smooth experience.
• Provide healthcare for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support weekly price changes and promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products to match sales floor plans.
• Replenish and recover products to meet sales standards.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote special events like adoption weekends, enrollment programs, and charity events.
• Ensure a safe environment for staff, pets, and customers.
• Act immediately if a sick or injured pet is identified, including transportation to the vet.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.

• Follow all company policies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, handle objects, and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and more than 100 pounds with assistance.
• Work in environments with pet hair, moderate noise, and exposure to live animals.
• Specific vision abilities required include depth perception.
