Teacher-Special Education Self Contained
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To create a flexible program favorable to learning and personal growth for the student in the least restrictive environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct instruction based on child's IEP and the Arizona State Standards.
- Conduct appropriate academic evaluations; develop, implement and monitor appropriate academic/behavioral individual education plans (IEP's).
- Confer and consult with regular classroom teachers regarding student needs, interventions, accommodations and student progress.
- Maintain accurate records for documentation of student progress and for compliance with district, federal, and state guidelines.
- Participate in the MET process.
- Attend, plan, conduct and/or participate in all necessary training activities and department meetings.
- Provide on-going consultation and support to teachers and teams in the development, design, and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans for students experiencing difficulties.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
- Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Maintain on-going communication (verbal and written) with parents of special education students.
- May be required to participate in student's meetings that may occur beyond the staff's work assignment schedule.
- Follow state law and district policy with cases involving child abuse and neglect.
- Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and creative to meet individual student needs.
- Consult with staff members regarding interventions and accommodations for students.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service professional development activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Direct activities and provide performance evaluation input regarding special education instructional assistant(s) to school administrator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
