Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Aerospace
Location: Onsite in Tempe, AZ (open to relocation)
About the Role: We are partnered with a well-established aerospace manufacturer specializing in advanced battery systems and energy storage solutions that support mission-critical applications across commercial, military, and general aviation. Their products are trusted in extreme environments where reliability, safety, and performance are non-negotiable.
This Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in advancing manufacturing processes across complex electronics and battery product lines. The position is highly visible within operations and offers strong opportunities for professional growth within a global aerospace organization.
What You’ll Do- Lead the development, optimization, and validation of manufacturing processes to improve quality, safety, and productivity in a regulated aerospace environment
- Partner closely with production supervisors and operators to ensure processes are efficient, repeatable, and compliant with AS9100 standards
- Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and jigs to support precision assembly and machining
- Provide hands‑on technical support to manufacturing, troubleshooting equipment, process variation, and nonconforming material issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce waste and increase throughput
- Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and cost reduction
- Lead root cause and corrective action investigations (RCCA) and ensure sustainable solutions are implemented
- Improve and maintain manufacturing documentation including routings, work instructions, and process controls
- Support new product introductions by leading the transition from engineering development to full production, including process validation and tooling readiness
- Initiate and execute engineering change requests and change orders
- Collaborate with operations leadership to support long‑term manufacturing strategy, capacity planning, and technology roadmaps
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
- Utilize process data, statistical analysis, and digital manufacturing tools to drive data‑based decision‑making and capital investment justification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering
- 5–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience within aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated industry
- Hands‑on experience supporting new product introductions
- Strong background developing process routings, work instructions, and PFMEAs
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across production, quality, engineering, and leadership teams
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Experience in a structured manufacturing or operations leadership development program
- Prior aerospace manufacturing experience
- Exposure to robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing technologies
Physical Requirements
- Standard business hours, Monday–Friday, with flexibility to support overtime as needed
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and remain seated or standing for extended periods
