Mechanical Laboratory Technician – Tempe, AZ. Phoenix National Labs in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician to test metals, plastics, rubbers, ceramics and other materials as well as support nondestructive testing and metallurgical services. This is a permanent job typically working 40-50 hours per week. Local candidates and those willing to relocate to Tempe, AZ, at their own expense are encouraged to apply.

• Operating testing machines that determine physical properties and strength of materials
• Prepare test specimens
• Calculate material properties based on test results
• Determine acceptability of test results to job specifications
• Prepare reports

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and mathematical skills. A two- or four-year Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires relocation to Tempe, AZ for non-local candidates.

• Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
• Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
• May be required to work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man‑baskets, etc.
• May be required to work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
• Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.
• Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, film developing chemicals, etc.
• Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
