Job Description:

As a Senior Roadway Design Engineer at Parsons , you will lead and manage the design and development of roadway projects, ensuring they meet client requirements and adhere to industry standards . You will work on a variety of projects, including urban and rural roadways, highways, and interstate systems. In this role you will complete a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applying transportation engineering techniques and analyses within roadway and geometric design on a variety of exciting and complex projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the design and development of roadway projects, including concept, preliminary and final design, alignment, grading, and pavement design.

  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.

  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met.

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project progress and address any issues that arise.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT requirements.

  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports.

  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project reviews.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required

  • Minimum of 8+ years of related work experience in roadway design engineering, including project management.

  • Solid roadway geometric design background with proficiency in roadway design software (e.g., Micro Station, InRoads, Open Roads).

  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT design standards and guidelines.

  • Intermediate skills with Excel (macros, equations)

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Ability to lead and motivate team members in completion of project tasks

  • Provide training and lead technical discussions related to roadway engineering

  • Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) experience

Salary Range: $86,700.00 - $
