What this job involves: As a Critical Environments Lead Engineer at JLL, you will drive excellence in mission-critical facility operations while shaping a brighter way for our clients and teams. This role puts you at the forefront of managing complex engineering systems in data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and other critical environments where uptime and reliability are paramount. You'll lead technical teams, oversee preventive maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with stringent industry standards.

Day Shift
What your day-to-day will look like:
Lead and mentor a team of technicians and engineers, fostering an environment where everyone is empowered to thrive through skills development and collaborative problem-solving
Oversee critical systems including UPS, generators, HVAC, fire suppression, and power distribution equipment to ensure 24/7 operational reliability
Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance programs and standard operating procedures for mission-critical environments
Respond to emergency situations and coordinate swift resolution of system failures to minimize downtime and maintain service level agreements
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to implement system upgrades and embrace more innovative ways of working
Conduct technical assessments, root cause analyses, and develop improvement recommendations that strengthen facility performance
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards while championing best practices across teams
Physical Work Abilities & Requirements:
This position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead, including:
Walking large, campus-like settings.
Lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
Climbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipment.
Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights.
Ability to Climb a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit.
Must be able to work different schedules.
Must be able to work Holidays.
Must be able to respond to site emergencies.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent technical experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or mission-critical facilities
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC, fire safety, and backup power systems in critical applications
Professional engineering license or relevant industry certifications (e.g., DCCA, CompTIA Server+, ASHRAE)
Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and complex projects
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
Preferred qualifications:
Advanced degree in Engineering or related technical field
Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) platforms
Knowledge of ITIL framework and facility management best practices
Industry certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or CFM (Certified Facility Manager)
Experience with renewable energy systems and sustainability initiatives
Strong communication skills and experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders
