Summary:
Mechanical Laboratory Technician - Tempe AZ. Phoenix National Labs in Tempe AZ is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician to test metals plastics rubbers ceramics and other materials as well as support nondestructive testing and metallurgical services. This is a permanent job typically working 40-50 hours per week. Local candidates and those willing to relocate to Tempe AZ at their own expense encouraged to apply.
/ Duties
- Operating testing machines that determine physical properties and strength of materials
- Prepare test specimens
- Calculate material properties based on test results
- Determine acceptability of test results to job specifications
- Prepare reports
Requirements /
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and mathematical skills. A two- or four-year Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires relocation to Tempe AZ for non-local candidates.
- Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
- Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
- May be required to work from heights on scaffolding ladders elevated platforms manbaskets etc.
- May be required to work in confined spaces which will require crawling stooping climbing etc.
- Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.
- Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners penetrants film developing chemicals etc.
- Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
