Join JE Dunn Construction as a Traveling General Superintendent for the Advanced Facilities Group.

Role Summary

The General Superintendent will develop and execute the project plan and oversee all aspects of assigned projects with significant complexity. This position will be responsible for managing the team, planning all construction sequencing, and meeting project goals in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. The role requires full‑time travel and on‑site presence for AMF mega projects in locations across the United States.

Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Lead safety culture, demonstrate commitment to an injury‑free environment, investigate incidents, and retrain staff as needed.
  • Manage subcontractors and organize overall job workflow.
  • Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for a small or major portion of a larger project.
  • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work.
  • Coordinate and manage site custody and control.
  • Lead daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings.
  • Attend and participate in progress or project OAC meetings.
  • Create, manage, change, and implement the project schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system.
  • Communicate key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Maintain filing and documentation organization; update drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
  • Approve or record unit cost information for weekly reports; complete daily reports, logs, and tracking reports.
  • Evaluate progress on self‑perform work and make needed adjustments.
  • Manage material and equipment needs.
  • Support MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes.
  • Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment necessary for self‑perform.
  • Approve timecards ensuring accurate hours and proper cost codes.
  • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, setting quality standards, internal QA/QC, and outside resources.
  • Support project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect, and authorities.
  • Understand project pursuit process and methodology.
  • Participate with field operations leadership and project team to develop, monitor, and adjust pre‑plans across the lifecycle.
  • Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing for the assigned project.
  • Partner with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of project changes.
  • Negotiate with owner and architect to agree on project changes.
  • Prepare and present at all project review meetings, including monthly reviews.
  • Participate in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Apply terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts.
  • Identify and recruit top talent.
  • Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion and implement JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policy.

  • Manage the largest, most complex standalone and/or multiple complex projects from planning to completion.
  • Oversee multiple projects and project teams.
  • Lead and execute company and regional key strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of relevant company training content and select internal subject‑matter experts.
  • Effectively deliver leadership messages to internal and external audiences.
