Job Summary
The Technical Manager is responsible for multiple client-based, or rollout specific projects as assigned by the Program Manager. The Technical Manager supervises multiple Field Engineers to ensure all contracted work is commissioned in accordance with IES standards and customer requirements. This includes, but is not limited to safety, quality, scope, staffing, financial management, schedule management, material management, risk management, project deliverables, and the overall client relationship.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and guide a team of technical experts, including Field Engineers, Technicians, and other support staff to ensure cohesive teamwork and efficient project execution. - Technical Strategy:
Collaborate with Program Management to define the technical vision and strategy for the program, identify opportunities for innovation, and improve technology processes and tools. - Resource Allocation:
Effectively allocate resources across projects to optimize productivity and achieve project milestones. - Technical Expertise:
Keep up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends; provide technical guidance and expertise to the project team to overcome challenges and maintain technical excellence. - Project Status Updates:
Maintain project status reports for program projects and report weekly to the Program Manager; track critical project milestones and ensure commissioning is properly completed. - Project Test Results:
Maintain a comprehensive test result management program in accordance with IES standards and the customer’s requirements; ensure that all testing equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and customer specifications. - Staff Training:
Develop a field staff training plan using IES and manufacturer training courses and certifications; recommend specific training courses for field staff and document all completed training and certifications. - Process Improvement:
Continuously develop and improve processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality. - Stakeholder Communication:
Coordinate ongoing communication between clients, stakeholders, and other cross‑functional teams to understand requirements, communicate project progress, and manage expectations. - Performance Evaluation:
Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members, providing feedback, recognizing outstanding achievements, and identifying areas for improvement. - Other responsibilities as assigned.
Salary:
Min USD $/Yr. Max USD $/Yr.
- Must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must have experience in customer interactions and general contractor interactions.
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
- Must meet company minimum driving standards.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated and verifiable ability to create and manage a project schedule, scope of work, and detailed associated tasks from project initiation through final completion and customer turnover.
- Minimum years of experience: 6+
- Self‑motivated, positive approach, professional, capable of leading others to create, develop, and implement project process improvements.
- Promotes the culture and mission of IES, as well as program objectives, to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
- Proven problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills; effective oral and written communication.
- High‑level skills interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including scope, specifications, reporting, and quality metrics.
- Ability to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
- Ability to learn company‑ and customer‑project management systems.
- Ability to secure and maintain a company‑sponsored American Express credit card.
- License required; no minimum education beyond high school.
