Overview
The Westin Tempe is looking for a FT - Head Sushi Chef to join our amazing Culinary Team!
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the kitchen team for the Sushi by Bou Outlet, ensuring menu items are prepared to the highest quality standards and that food is handled and stored in compliance with established guidelines.
- Hands-on sushi leadership: command the counter, mentor chefs, protect quality, and deliver unforgettable guest experiences night after night.
- In addition to essential functions, perform a combination of supportive functions: maintain vacation schedule for proper staffing; VIP parties and staff meetings; maintain culinary equipment and uniforms, purchase back-up supplies to maintain standard par on hand.
- 3-5 years of culinary experience preferably as a Sushi Chef in a similar size operation with supervisory experience essential.
Skills and Abilities
- Must have the ability to communicate in English.
- Self-starting personality with an even disposition; maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
- Ability to communicate well with internal and external guests; be a team player.
- Ability to transport goods, work with all products and food ingredients, operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Ability to plan and develop menus and recipes; apply basic supervisory skills to plan, organize, direct, coach, train and discipline as necessary.
- Ability to ensure security of kitchen access, products and hotel property; operate under stress with time constraints and continuous walking; finger/hand dexterity; lift up to 100 lbs as required.
- Customer Satisfaction: maintain positive guest experiences; remain professional and treat guests and associates with courtesy and respect.
- Work Habits: meet and strive to exceed hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality and attendance; adapt to change; solve routine problems and seek help when needed.
- Safety & Security: adhere to hotel security policies, report safety hazards and concerns.
