Summary

Project Inspector, under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Public Works, ensures quality and compliance for Temple infrastructure (water/sewer, streets, drainage). This role focuses on on-site inspections, plan review, and quality assurance to ensure adherence to standards, manage testing, and facilitate communication.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site inspections of infrastructure construction (water/sewer, streets, drainage), coordinate testing, and review reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the City's Drainage Criteria and Design Manual (DCM) during permit reviews and inspections for drainage and erosion control.
  • Respond to citizen concerns about drainage, erosion, water, and sewer issues with site visits and photographic assessments.
  • Review infrastructure construction plans for specification and code adherence and perform design/plat reviews as needed.
  • Maintain detailed project records, including daily logs, photos, and electronic files.
  • Verify monthly payment estimates for City projects.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, City departments, contractors, and developers.
  • Interpret plans/specifications, review cut sheets, and inspect installed materials.
  • Prepare for and oversee various tests (hydrostatic, purity, pressure, sub-grade, asphalt).
  • Report construction project progress to the City Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Follow the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in Construction Engineering Technology or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering technology or related field.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license.
