Join Baylor Scott & White Health as a Thoracic Surgeon in the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the Temple, TX campus. This full‑time academic position requires a BC/BE Thoracic Surgeon who is proficient in all aspects of non‑cardiac adult thoracic surgery and is prepared to contribute to the growth of disease‑based programs in partnership with the Divisions of Oncology and Pulmonary Medicine.
Our experienced team treats a variety of chest disorders—benign and malignant—using state‑of‑the‑art care and technology, including minimally invasive techniques such as video‑assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotic surgery. The Central Texas region is the fastest growing area in the country, and the Cardiovascular Surgery program is experiencing steady growth that is expected to continue.
Responsibilities- Provide the full spectrum of non‑cardiac adult thoracic surgical services, including treatment of benign and malignant pulmonary and esophageal disorders.
- Perform foregut and esophageal procedures such as Heller myotomy, fundoplication, and stenting.
- Execute interventional airway procedures, including EBUS and stenting.
- Teach and mentor surgical residents, fellows, and other trainees.
- Participate in research activities and contribute to the Division’s active research program.
- Residency or fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- 5+ years of post‑training experience (exceptions possible).
- Experience in an academic setting preferred.
- Doctorate Degree in Medicine.
- Licensed to practice medicine in Texas by the Texas Medical Board.
- Board certification or certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
- Completed an ACGME‑accredited Thoracic or Cardiothoracic surgery residency or fellowship.
- Advanced training or experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
