Overview: Our ECHO & EKG Lab is growing and we have Full‑time inpatient and ER opportunities available with a $10,000 sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance.

Schedule & Call

Hours: Variable – must be available from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and flexible for extended hours when needed.
Call: On‑call, including weekends and holidays. Weekend starts at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and ends at 7:00 a.m. on Monday. Must be present/on‑site within 1 hour of call.

Travel

Travel 1–2 times a month, rotational – occasionally travel with a portable ultrasound machine to a continuing care facility across town to perform echoes.

Registry (Credentials Required)
  • Two credentials:
    RCS – Registered Cardiac Sonographer through CCI, or RDCS – Reg Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer through ARDMS.
  • And two of the following:
    RVT or RVS

Education & Experience

Graduate of an accredited technical or associate’s degree program in radiology and at least 2 years of professional experience with intermediate level echocardiography or vascular skills.

Desired Skills

Proficient in transthoracic echocardiography. Teach and share knowledge with fellows, team members, students during clinical rotations. Familiar with Philips iE33/EPIQ systems.

Job Summary

The Multi‑modality Sonographer performs basic to advanced ultrasound services across abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small‑parts exams. Examines the patient’s clinical history to identify the purpose of the examination, frames the clinical questions, and expands the scope as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Perform multiple‑modality ultrasound procedures using various equipment and techniques. Record necessary measurements for accurate, high‑quality results.
  • Identify and define abnormalities. Extend the examination scope appropriately and correlate other diagnostic test results with anatomy and function.
  • Assists physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies to decrease risk factors.
  • Prepares patients for procedures, obtains clinical history, explains the purpose of the exam and answers questions.
  • Records statistics and maintains the ultrasound lab daily; reports all malfunctions as appropriate.
  • Acts as a resource to staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies.
  • Works closely with the ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to protocols; assists with unit or organization accreditation activities as delegated.
  • Implements protocols as new technology evolves and ensures implementation and adherence to system standards.
  • Assures operation of equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer recommendations and troubleshooting as required.
Key Success Factors
  • Must be familiar with approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound examination.
  • Must meet all qualifications for any two of the modalities:
    Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts; work a minimum of 25% of the time in the second modality.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic methods, instrumentation, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology for each different specialty.
  • Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers.
  • Skilled in the utilization of computers and medical equipment.
