Overview

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple, Address: 2401 South 31st Street, Temple, Texas 76508. Our ECHO & EKG Lab is growing and we have Full-time inpatient and ER opportunities with a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Schedule:

hours of operation are variable; must be available from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and flexible to work extended hours when needed. Call: on call, including weekends and holidays. Weekend starts at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and ends at 7:00 a.m. on Monday. Must be present/on-site within 1 hour of call. Travel: 1–2 times a month, rotational (occasionally travel with a portable ultrasound machine to a continuing care facility across town to perform echoes).

Registry:
Multi-credentialed sonographers must have two credentials: either Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS, and RVT or RVS.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited technical or associate degree program in Radiology and two years of professional experience with intermediate level echocardiography or vascular skills.

Desired skills:
Proficiency in transthoracic echocardiography; ability to teach and share knowledge with fellows, team members, Cardiology Fellows, and students during clinical rotations; familiarity with Philips iE33/EPIQ systems.

Responsibilities
  • Perform multi-modality ultrasound procedures using various equipment and techniques. Take measurements to ensure accurate, high-quality results.
  • Identify and define abnormalities, extend examination scope as needed, and correlate other diagnostic test results with anatomy and function. Use appropriate protection measures during procedures.
  • May assist physicians in procedures and operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies to support complex procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, and tailor imaging techniques to provide comprehensive exams. Explain the ultrasound purpose and answer patient questions.
  • Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the ultrasound lab and equipment; report malfunctions.
  • Serve as a resource to staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
  • Collaborate with the ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to protocols; assist with accreditation activities as delegated.
  • Implement protocols as new technology evolves and ensure adherence to system standards. Conduct quality checks and troubleshoot equipment as required.
Key Success Factors
  • Familiarity with approved clinical protocols for each ultrasound examination performed.
  • Must meet qualifications for any two modalities among Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts; work a minimum of 25% of time in the second modality. Pediatric and adult scopes are studied as separate specialties by certification.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic methods, instrumentation, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant anatomy, physiology, infection control, patient confidentiality, and privacy.
  • Strong communication skills with healthcare providers and patients; proficient computer and medical equipment usage.
