Offer details include: 80% travel statewide, occasional overnight and weekend travel, and a compressed workweek option (four 10-hour days). Responsibilities
  • Conducts interviews concerning allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Collects evidence pertinent to the investigation.
  • Uses critical thinking and sound judgment to analyze evidence related to the allegation.
  • Writes reports summarizing the facts obtained during investigations to determine if abuse, neglect, or exploitation occurred.
  • Communicates professionally via all communication mediums.
  • Promotes and demonstrates respect for cultural diversity.
  • Adheres to HHSC Standards of Conduct and participates in case conferences and meetings regarding case progress and disposition.
  • Participates in continuous training and attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.
  • May work outside traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) as required for case-related functions or on-call duties.
  • Travels using a personal vehicle or rental car per state travel policy; travel reimbursement provided.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to maintain unit operations.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of Provider Investigations agency policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of Texas laws relating to Provider Investigations and protective services.
  • Knowledge of the population served (adults and children with mental illness, developmental or physical disabilities).
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and cultural awareness.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work in potentially emotion-filled environments.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, laptops, smartphones, and software including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and conduct interviews in various locations (private residences, group homes, facilities).
  • Ability to work in environments with potentially dangerous individuals.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements Or Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
  • Initial Screening Criteria:
    Experience interacting with or communicating with members of the public (in person or by phone).
  • Education:

    At minimum, 60 hours of college credits from an accredited college or university; four-year degree preferred.
  • Experience Conducting Investigations:
    Preferred.
  • Experience with individuals with mental illness or disabilities is preferred.
Additional Information
  • Flexibility in work hours; 80% travel including statewide travel, overnight and weekend travel. On-call duties may be required. Must have reliable transportation.
  • Note:

    This position may offer a compressed workweek (four 10-hour days).
